That’s a song by Jill Scott, one of my absolute most favorite musicians ever. I felt the title was appropriate for this post because…you know…just look at these curves.
There’s a beautiful story that goes with this session, but that will come a bit later. For now, I wanted to shine a bit of a spotlight on the magical curves that women have. Big, small, short, tall, belly, no belly…gosh our bodies are simply the most awe-inspiring and miracle-contemplating works of art. I think the mystery that a woman’s body holds will forever be the most mystical creations of all time. Before you say I’m being a bit fluffy here, imagine what men have done throughout history to celebrate those bodies, touch those bodies and even turn them into works on canvas, buildings, sculptures….
My favorite part of shooting nudes is the power that a women can feel infusing into her body as she watches what she tears down in the mirror become living, breathing art right in front of her Self. You can see her fears and self-doubt just fly away as it sets in that, yes, this body is hers and what a gift that truly is.
See those little rolls on her side? That is my most favorite part of a woman. Yes, a lot of women ask me to remove those and it kills me every time because I feel like I’m removing what makes us real. Body’s are supposed to do that and to me it’s the most significant sign of beauty. It’s genuine and authentic, as it should be because no matter anything else, we should allow our bodies to be genuine and authentic. Makeover (you’ll soon see) by At Home Beauty.
Oh…wait…no, I got that wrong…they all walked into my studio, except…they were all one woman.
But by the looks of these photos, I could probably get away with convincing you of that. Can I let you in on a secret: I LOVE that element to my sessions. It’s not even a question anymore. How many sides of yourself can we bring out in a session? We just do it. Honestly…we don’t even ask anymore. We just do it.
My goal is to drawwwwwwww each of those sides of yourself out of you. I’ve gotten the raised eyebrows that accompany the “Well…I don’t know about this…but I guess if you say so…” look in the eyes. I ignore them. Actually, I take that back. I take that as a challenge. And when I get the follow up “HOLY SHIT ON A STICK” look when they see what they look like in the photographs…well…I’m sure you can guess my internal thoughts at the moment.
We start easy. Natural, mostly clothed. I like to keep you as you see yourself daily (just a notch better) so that you feel comfortable in your own skin. Then we push. We get a bit more seductive. We let the hair down and pump up the volume a bit, maybe add a bit of smoke to those eyes. Then we really get the garters out. That’s when you’re realllllly ready to start killing it. That girl next door turned into the bombshell in one glance and then those hips start kickin’. And lastly, we round it out with a bit of art. That can be nudes or a more editorial style. Whatever it is, by then you’re a pro and wondering why you didn’t do this years ago, all while planning your next session with me because NOW you know what to expect. NOW you know you can do it. NOW you know you are one, hot, passionate, gorgeous badass.
The girl next door, a Victoria Secrets bombshell and a nudist walk out of my studio…

Sometimes it is the only thing keeping you safe from this outside world. Sometimes it is the biggest obstacle from feeling anything at all.
Still, my favorite wardrobe choice of all time.

OK–so I know by now you’re thinking I’m obsessed with Erica. You’re right. I don’t normally post this much with a subject but as you’ve seen with my session with Erica, it was very unique in that we did so many different styles. We did pin-up, a bit more hardcore, nudes and even a series with a mink wrap that belonged to her Great-Grandmother. So I hope you’re not getting bored! Hold on tight…more to come.
So I gave you a little teaser of some stunning artistic nude photography of Erica but below are a set of my favorite nudes of Erica (I have a brilliant window series coming up as well). This was probably one of my favorite sets because of how soft and sensual they are. My goal for this was to show a vulnerable side of Erica. I wanted something to be totally opposite of the fierce series we did earlier that day.
I loved the warmth of these photos. Erica had beautiful, soft, buttery bronze skin and it just melted in with the warm glow of the sun and the hardwood flooring. I was also mesmerized by her soft curves that contrasted spectacularly with the harsh angles of the window shadowing on the floor around her.
Next up…mink or window. Can’t decide yet.
